Tasha’s mother sees her ulterior motive for leaving as an escape towards Terry Silver, who craves to be Tasha’s designer suited savior. She wants freedom from Ghost, the house and even “the life”. Ghost claims Tasha is selfish and doesn’t truly care about the family, and Tasha has had enough. She couldn’t make the event and was supposed to give the speech Ghost delivered. Ghost’s unresolved grief leads to resentment towards Tasha.
